More informations

The ski route starts at the Sattelbauer parking lot. From there, it goes through the forest, following the hiking trail up to the Lackenalms. Passing the alpine pasture, it proceeds along the mountain ridge to the summit. Panoramic views included. The descent follows the same route as the ascent.

Hiking the route is at your own risk. Local conditions must be strictly observed.

Please observe the current avalanche report

Before starting a route, inform someone in the valley of your destination and expected return time. Carrying an avalanche transceiver is strongly recommended.

Avalanche danger scale

1 (LOW)

An avalanche release is only possible under high additional load on very few, extreme steep slopes. No spontaneous avalanches (so-called slides) are to be expected. Generally safe conditions.

2 (MODERATE)

An avalanche release is likely under high additional load especially on the stated steep slopes. Larger avalanches are not to be expected. The snow cover is generally well consolidated except on some steep slopes. Careful route selection on the indicated steep slopes and slope aspects.

3 (CONSIDERABLE)

An avalanche release is probable already under slight additional load, especially on the stated steep slopes. Occasionally some medium and in isolated cases also large avalanches are possible spontaneously. The snow cover is only moderately to weakly consolidated on many steep slopes. Experience in avalanche assessment is necessary. Avoid the indicated steep slopes and slope aspects if possible.

4 (HIGH)

An avalanche release is possible already under slight additional load especially on the indicated steep slopes. Occasionally many medium, sometimes also large avalanches occur. On many steep slopes the snow cover is only weakly consolidated. Limit route choices to moderately steep terrain and pay attention to avalanche run-out zones. Extensive experience in avalanche assessment is necessary.

5 (VERY HIGH)

Numerous large avalanches, also in moderately steep terrain, are to be expected spontaneously. At this warning level, safe operation in ski areas is no longer possible. The snow cover is generally weakly consolidated and unstable. Avoid routes.

Ski route rules

  • Respect for nature and regulations: Observe the applicable rules for all activities in nature and when choosing your route, such as wildlife protection areas, hunting closures, reforestation areas, and information boards.
  • Respect for wildlife: Respect quiet zones for wildlife, avoid feeding places and loud noises.
  • Crossing forest areas: Cross forest areas in winter preferably only on designated paths and routes. Animals react very panicked to unpredictable noise.
  • Behavior towards wildlife: Recognize the habitats of wild animals and avoid them if possible. Observe wildlife from a safe distance. Dogs must be kept on a leash; it is irresponsible to let dogs roam freely in winter.
  • Time planning: Plan your route so that you start early enough and return before darkness. In spring, be back at the hut by midday to minimize avalanche danger.
  • Avoid reforestation areas: Never ride through reforestation and young growth areas.
